Great Skin Care Regime - Step #2

The 2nd step towards a GREAT skin care regime is to "Tone & Balance".

  • After cleansing, your skin needs repairing substances to help restore the surface.
  • Facial Toner is a mild astringent which aides in removing excess oil while prepping your skin for the moisturizer.
  • Toner helps to 'balance' the pH (potential hydrogen) level.
  • Use water-based toners that nourish and balance the skin.

Great Skin Care Regime - Step #1

Did you know your skin is the largest organ in the body? Skin has an important job of protecting the body from infections and germs, so it is important to take care of it. The best way to take care of your 'facial skin' is to make cleaning a part of your daily routine!

A GREAT skin care regime starts with "Cleansing & Exfoliating".  Here’s some good tips to begin using:

1. With warm water, apply cleanser (appropriate for your skin type) to your face in a circular motion. Keep massaging for 30-60 sec. Avoid using hand/body soap for your face. Facial skin is more sensitive and harsher soaps can cause it to get dry and irritated.

2. Exfoliating is the process of gently scrubbing your skin to remove dirt and dead skin cells. Exfoliating 2-3 times/week will keep your pores from getting clogged and help your skin look fresh and bright. Use a facial scrub or a washcloth and focus on areas that tend to be dry or oily.

3. Use warm water to rinse your face and pat it dry with a towel.

Additional Notes:

• Always begin with clean hands.

• Make sure your face is clean before you put on makeup or get into bed--your skin rejuvenates naturally when you sleep.  While you sleep, your skin produces oil which gets trapped in the pores by the layers of makeup you left on your skin, making them clogged and likely to break out.  By not cleansing your skin at night and allowing it to breathe while you rest, you’re adding years to the look of your face in the long run. Cleanse every night and you’ll thank yourself in years to come.

• Warm water helps lift the dirt out of your skin, but hot water can be too drying.

• Cream cleansers are more hydrating, but if you wear a lot of makeup, you might want to use a gel cleanser and/or a makeup remover.

Acne / Rosacea

Acne is primarily caused by the fluctuation of hormones.  Hormones stimulate the oil glands to produce more sebum, which can block pores. Bacteria can then grow within the pores, causing them to become inflamed and break out.

Rosacea is a common, lasting skin condition, a rash that appears on the face.  Rosacea is triggered when something causes the blood vessels in the face to expand, which causes redness.

February's Special Products offer a perfect treatment to nourish and protect your skin!

Complex C Serum:  This concentrated Vitamin C Serum protects, hydrates, and conditions delicate or irritated skin. This product is recommended for microdermabrasion treatment, chemical peel, or laser treatments. It can also be an excellent product to be used on acne skin to help in the healing process.  Vitamin C fights free radical damage caused by the harsh environmental factors.   It is also a major anti-oxidant in the body. It is well established that Vitamin C is essential for healthy skin. The Mitochondria, which is the “energizing body” in the dermis, controls the production of collagen and elastin. Vitamin C helps to give the “triggering” effect for the Mitochondria to give the command to produce more collagen.

Key Ingredients:  Ascorbyl Phosphate: a fat-soluble derivative of Vitamin C. It is nonirritating and more stable than plain ascorbic acid. Furthermore, ascorbyl phosphate is an antioxidant and is at least as effective as vitamin E in protecting the skin from lipid peroxidation (a key type of free radical damage in the skin). Hyaluronic Acid: high concentration in this formula; an excellent humectant and emollient moisturizer. This ingredient is known for its hydrating and soothing properties. Panthenol: Vitamin B5, known for its hydrating properties.

Complex C Moisturizer:  This advanced Vitamin C crème protects, hydrates and conditions skin without irritation.  Light white crème with scents of Bergamot Oil and Lemon Grass Oil.  This crème is light and can be used with a sunscreen during the day or under a night crème at night.  If using a serum, apply on top of the serum for best results.  Vitamin C is a major anti-oxidant in the body, essential for healthy skin.  This formula also incorporates Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate to calm redness and Red Marine Algae to condition dull sluggish skin.

Key Ingredients: Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate: Vitamin C. Improves hydration, helps increase collagen production, acts as an anti-immflammatory (puffy eyes and redness). Ascorbic Acid: Known to trigger collagen production, protects, hydrates and conditions. Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate: Improves skins protective functions, reduces appearance of spider veins and dark circles. Ahnfeltia Concinna Extract: Derived Hawaiian Red Algae. Moisturizes, increases firmness, elasticity, and cell turnover.

Delicate Eye and Neck Care

Your most tender skin is the area around your EYES and NECK.  The skin under the EYES and NECK is seven times thinner than the rest of the skin on your face, and the first to wrinkle.   As you age, lack of sebaceous glands causes the EYE and NECK areas to be extremely dry..
